Its reported that 90% of people will experience headaches at some point in their life. Headaches may result due to a number of reasons; they may be musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal causes. Headaches may result from stress, poor posture, trauma/accidents, whiplash injuries, medications and dietary irregularities.

Cervicogenic headaches is a type of headache that is most commonly seen and effectively treated in Physiotherapy practice. These headaches are caused due to a referred pain that is perceived in the head from a source in the neck.

Here at Flood Street Physio our Chartered Physiotherapists are trained in assessing the structures of the neck which may be contributing to the cause of your headache. They will provide you with an effective treatment programme in order to reduce your headache symptoms.

How can Physiotherapy help?

By addressing any musculoskeletal dysfunction in your neck, shoulders and upper back may help relieve headaches and migraine symptoms. By using preventative measures that includes postural, sleeping and ergonomic advice will help in reducing your headache symptoms. The goal is to keep you both headache and painkiller free.

At Flood Street Physiotherapy our Chartered Physiotherapists will be able to help in identifying the stiff and painful joints, thereby relieving the stresses and overload placed on the muscles in the neck.
