TENNIS/GOLFERS ELBOW
The Elbow joint is where the 3 long bones in the upper limb meet – there are numerous muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and a joint capsule that mat be the cause of pain in the elbow. Elbow pain can be very debilitating for the simplest of tasks.
The most commonly type of pain occurring here is as result of an overuse and overloading of our tendons. These tendonopathies are commonly known as “tennis and golfers elbow” or a traumatic event such as a fall resulting in a fracture may result in pain.
This is a common joint where pain may refer – some joints that may refer pain to the elbow include the shoulder, neck and wrist. Therefore its important that you get a correct diagnosis of the originating painful source and treatment can focus on dealing with the contributing structures.
Common signs and symptoms?
- Loss of strength,
- Pain on trying to grasp and lift objects,
- Pain on turning a key,
- Pain on opening a jar,
- Tenderness around the elbow joint and even a
- Dull ache when at rest.
Accurate diagnosis, early intervention and correct management is important in restoring normal function to the joint.

If this is not corrected then pain will return on resumption of the activity.
